For example, one may be interested in having a dog as a pet but may live in an apartment where dogs may not be allowed or where there are no gardens or walkways to exercise the dog.

When it comes to fish as a pet, stable environment is the key. On the other hand, birds are simple to feed but more challenging when it comes to housing, in my opinion. So, I would suggest getting the child a gold fish. It is usually very versatile and easy to keep. Good luck!
