How do I join a neighborhood?

To join an existing neighborhood, you need to know the name of the neighborhood. If you do not know the name of the neighborhood, you can do a quick search using the search button on top of the Neighborhoods’ home page. To get to the neighborhoods home page, click on the button titled Neighborhoods on the main navigation bar (shown above).

Once in the neighborhoods home page, you will find a list of the villages under the heading neighborhoods by village through which you can get to the neighborhoods.

• Click on the appropriate village and the list of neighborhoods under that village will come up.
• Select the name of the neighborhood you will like your pet to join.
• On the next page, you will see the list of available neighborhoods including the one you want to join.
• Click on the “Join this neighborhood” and you will be added as a member. If the neighborhood requires approval, your membership will not be activated until the owner approves your request.

How do I leave or cancel membership in a neighborhood?

• Go to the neighborhood and click on the “Leave Neighborhood” link.
• A window pops up with the question: “Do you really want to delete user?”
• Click OK and you will get a message indicating that you have successfully left the neighborhood.

How do I create a neighborhood?

To create a neighborhood:

• Click on the “Create your OWN Neighborhood!” link on the neighborhood home page.
• Enter the name of your neighborhood (try to be unique and creative – however, avoid inappropriate terms as this is a family friendly website).
• Enter some background about your neighborhood like the goal or vision of the neighborhood, what type of pets or breed you would like to invite and any other information you would like to include. Note that there is a limit of 150 characters for this field.
• The “Neighborhood Category” defaults to the Village the pet belongs to. This allows your neighborhood to be properly categorized.
• Under the “Neighborhood Type”, select the type of neighborhood you would like to set up. There are three options: Open, Approval required and Private.
• Open – This allows any pet to join your neighborhood.
• Approval Required – This means that anytime a user signs up to join your neighborhood, they will not become active until you approve their enrollment.
• Private – This is sort of like the exclusive option, meaning that members can only join by invitation. You would invite them to join.

Finally, once you finish completing all the fields, click on the “Submit” button to conclude the process.

How do I invite other members to join my neighborhood?

Once inside your neighborhood home page, you will see the link titled “Invite your friends!” as shown above. 

Click on that link and you will be prompted to enter the user name in the text box. Note that you can only invite a registered member. If you need to invite someone who is not a member, send them an email and ask them to register first as a member of Globalpetvillage. Once they register, you can then invite them using their user name.

What else can I do in my neighborhood?

Once you create your neighborhood, you will need to grow it by inviting others of similar interest to join. You can:

• Communicate with the members of your neighborhood by sending group messages
• Activate new members using the “Inactive Users” link.
• Have neighborhood discussions in the “Neighborhood Forum”.
• You can visit individual member’s home “Profile” page. You can do this via the “Members” link shown in the graphic above.
• You can also edit the neighborhood information.
